Since Cayucas is launching through Kickstarter, we want to keep things as clear and transparent as possible. Here you’ll find answers to the most common questions about our shoes, our process, and what to expect when you support the campaign.
ABOUT CAYUCAS
Cayucas is a modern huarache brand that reimagines the traditional huarache for everyday life. Rooted in heritage and crafted by artisans in Sahuayo, Michoacán, each pair blends generations of shoemaking expertise with modern design.
Cayucas was founded by Maritza Cardenas in New York and California. With deep ties to Sahuayo, Michoacán, her parents’ hometown, Maritza built Cayucas to honor tradition while creating something new for the modern world.
We are a Latina-founded brand rooted in heritage and experience. Our artisans come from families with generations of expertise in huarache making. Together, we create authentic shoes that balance tradition with thoughtful design and modern wearability.
Cayucas grew from a love for craftsmanship, culture, and the huarache itself. What began as a personal passion for shoes that could last for generations has become a brand that brings huaraches into today’s lifestyle.
PRICING
Kickstarter pledges are non-refundable. Since each pair is made to order, we are not able to offer refunds or exchanges.
To help you choose the right fit, we’ll provide a detailed sizing chart in the pledge manager after the campaign ends. Our woven leather also molds to your foot with wear, making the shoes more comfortable over time.
SIZING AND FIT
Women’s styles are available in sizes 5 to 10 for some designs and 5 to 12 for others. Men’s styles are available in sizes 7 to 14. Half sizes are only available for some styles.
After the campaign ends, you’ll receive a pledge manager survey where you can select your style, size, and fit preferences.
If you are between sizes, we recommend going up to the next whole size for comfort. For example, if you are a 7.5, choose a size 8. The woven leather molds to your foot with wear, making it more comfortable over time.
We will share a detailed sizing guide in the pledge manager to help you select the best fit. The woven leather stretches and molds to your foot, providing flexibility for wider fits.

SHIPPING
Shipping is not included in your pledge and will be added in the pledge manager after the campaign. Costs vary by location and how many pairs you order.
Estimated ranges:
Mexico: $8–12 for one pair, $12–18 for two pairs, $18–25 for three pairs
United States: $15–20 for one pair, $25–30 for two pairs, $35–40 for three pairs
European Union: $35–45 for one pair, $50–59 for two pairs, $65–75 for three pairs
Kickstarter only collects your pledge at the end of the campaign. Later, you’ll receive a pledge manager survey to confirm your details and pay for shipping.
We aim to keep shipping costs fair and transparent so you feel good about your order. If you decide not to complete the survey or pay for shipping, your pledge will remain as support for the project, but you will not receive your reward.

PRODUCTION
All Cayucas shoes are handmade in Sahuayo, Michoacán, Mexico, a town known for its huarache craft.
Every style is co-created by Maritza Cardenas and artisans of Sahuayo, blending modern vision with traditional craft.
Yes. We have partnered with skilled shoemakers, designers, and our production partners, Calzado Trova, who bring years of expertise to ensure Cayucas shoes are built to last.
Each pair goes through multiple hands and detailed steps. By working in slow fashion, we give artisans the time needed to uphold the highest standards of quality and attention to detail.
PRODUCT DETAILS
We use authentic leather paired with carefully chosen soles for durability and comfort.
Each style comes in its original colorway, designed to highlight the craftsmanship and design.

Kickstarter allows us to bring Cayucas to life alongside you. Your pledge helps us fund production, and you only pay if the campaign reaches its goal.

Kickstarter is all-or-nothing. If we don’t meet our goal, no one is charged and all pledges are refunded. If this happens, we will make pre-orders available via Cayucashoes.com
